Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebrations 2010

As someone who loves Singaporean Food, I am very excited to find out about this place in Geylang Serai that Muslims go to to break the fast during the Ramadan Season. I love all kinds of food and I was giddy and waited till the right time to come to this place.
The nearest MRT is Paya Lebar and you just have to follow where the people are walking and you will see this food bazaar. The other side of the street are mostly selling carpets and traditional clothes. So i stuck to this area.
Lots of kind of food, but i stuck to some favorites
Prawns Vadai- i tasted two stall with the long queue, but i like this one better.

Their Vadai, is crispier, tasted better than this stall.

Ramly Burger..

There are a lot of places serving this burger, i tried this plce and instead of wrapping the burger in egg, the make it like a sandwich, so an egg/burger sandwich in between sliced burger buns. Delicous!!
KEbab-

who would want a taste of this, the appearance alone was making my mouth water already. Tender chunks of sliced beef. Yummy
Grilled Chicken- YUmmy and spicy

DenDeng!!-- Bakkwa, Halal style. I like the beef better than the Chicken:)

Grandma's - Paragon Orchard

Now, this place specializes in local cuisine, from Char Kway toew to Chicken rice to Cze Char cuisine, You can find it here but in a cleaner, aircon environment. So don’t expect to pay Hawker Prices.
Honey Chicken- this was just ordinary, you can get from a Cze char restaurant. Though it was cooked well, I love the rice, fluffy and steamed just right.
Calamari rings were also not outstanding. Just ordinary. though it was cooked well and noy gummy.
Mango Pudding with Sago- was good, even if looked sad and unappeting, Could use a bit more crushed ice and add a bit more color to the dish.

BARPAZZA - Raffles Place

25 Church Street
Singapore 049482
6536 0572

Located in the Strip of Restaurants in the Capital Square Area, I noticed this pace because of the incredible offer they have for diners. They have an ongoing promo where diners can have either 1 for 1 pizza or pasta. Who wouldnt want a deal like this. So i scoot over this palce quickly to have a try of their pizzas
They have quite an assortment of different toppingd to offer, from the usual fare you would see in a typical italina restaurant, to asian inspired toppings, like satay, Sambal, and other singaporean delight. But for this meal, i am sticking to the traditional toppings.
Mushroom lovers- three kinds of fresh mushroom, baked till its cooked and soft.

Parma Ham- parma slices, rucola leaves and shaved parmesan.

Both pizzas were terrific, expect thin, cripsy and delicious crust pizzas. I love it. I personally like the Parma ham more, i think its because of the Rucola leaves that adds a freshness dimension to the pizza, plus the shaved parmesan is also a plus:)
And to help you finish the pizza is a cold bottle of Italian beer, what else would be fitting right?

So come down and enjoy this fantastic deal.

Swensen's -multiple branches

Swensens
One of the more popular Ice Cream Chains here in Singapore. Placed was packed on a weekend evening, you have to queue before you get a seat. What else to order here but dessert right?
Got the Malt Ice cream - which was just okay, nothing to brag about,.
Apple Pie ala mode—I always love the play of warm and cool dessert in one dish. But my rant here is that the butterscotch sauce was overly sweet. It would have been a nice dessert if it wasn’t so sweet.-
I still prefer Tom Palette’s ice cream over this one.

Da Paolo la Terrazza - Holland Village

One of the most famous Italian Eateries in Singapore is Da Paolo, opened since ____ this placed has expanded its operation to include a Delicateseen, a Pizza Bar, Several restaurants.
Went to Holland Village to try one of their outlets. The place was a little dark. So my pictures is not that nice,
Appetizer
Foie Gras Salad.
The foie gras a a little undercooked for me, I like my foie gras with a nice crust then soft and buttery inside. The salad was delicious though, I like the apple’s tartness that cuts through the fat of the Goose Liver
Baked Portobello Mushrooms- This was a nice dish. Delicious cheese on top of fresh Portobello mushroom on a bed of freshly prepared tomato sauce. Baked to perfection.
Sea Bass with caviar cream sauce –
nice piece of fish, cooked perfectly. The sauce was mild and didn’t destroy the delicate taste of the fish,
Spinach Tagliatelle with Prawns –
now, this was a winner as well, the pasta was made nicely, one of the best pasta dishes I have eaten. Love fresh pastas!!! The Prawns were humongous and cooked so well, it was plump, juicy, crispy. I could eat this dish everyday. The sauce was tomato cream sauce and suited the entire dish.
No more room for dessert

SHANGHAI CHEE CHEONG FUN - Chinatown Complex Food Center

Shanghai Chee Cheong Fen
Chinatown Complex Food Centre
#02-174
335 Smith Street Singapore 050335
Chee Cheong Fun is always fun to eat. As a side dish to a good meal. Chinatown Complex houses one of the better chee cheong fun, they make it at this stall, though not made to orde each time. They tend to make it by batches and keep it warm in a steel refrigerator like appliance
Ordered the Char Siew Chee cheong Fun- I find the cheong fun wrapper a but thick, as I love my chee cheong fun wrapper more relax looking and not so stiff, I like the the sauces they doused the cheong fun with though, like their chili sauce and sweet and salty thick soy sauce that just suit the cheong fun very well.

Sin Lai Lai Snack House - Golden Mile Complex

If you guys go to Malaysia by Bus, you know where Golden Mile Complex is. And in this complex houses one of the best Tom Yam Soup I hve eaten here in Singapore. Don’t mind the cheeky ambience, but this place serves a mean Tom Yum. Serving thai-chinese food, this place has a very good following, I always see this place full.
Full of seafood, and doused with coconut milk, their Tom Yum is creamy and spicy.. those who like the traditional one without the coconut milk can request for it, but I like my tom yum this way, and it is served in a mini hot pot and keeps the tom yum hot so it is very very good.

Creamy , Delicious.

Xin Yuan Ji - Bugis

This place was full of diners during dinner time. Fried Fish noodles is the specialty here. The Stock is said to be cooked for hours with fish bones to develop the creamy looked even without the addition of milk, but you can request for it to have milk added if you want. I want to try it as is.

The beautiful bowl came and it smelled wonderful. The fish slices were fried well, not drying them up. The soup just tasted fantastic and I think I could eat 2 bowls of this. I like everything including the noodles. Where is your favorite Fish noodle place??
