Tanjong Pagar Fried Kway Teow - Tanjong Pagar

Tanjong Pagar Hawker center is perhaps one of the busiest hawker center during lunch time. Its hard to get a seat. and you can see those rectangular plastic tissue thingies saving seat and table..
There are two Char Kway Teow Places that commands long queues, THe other one i already posted
This is the other one,
beside the Famous Nasi Lemak place that i will be featuring in the near future.
to compare this with The other Kway teow place..

this is the lighter version in terms of oilyness and sweetness. Both have good wok hei and fry their kway teow very well.. I will go here for lunch and go to Peter for dinner as this place only opens for lunch..

Outram Park Fried Kway Teow - Hong Lim Complex

Was told this place cooks one of the finer Fried(Char) Kway Teow here in Singapore. Located in the Hong Lim Complex, this place is now temporarily at the improvised Hawker center at Hong Lim Park. After numerous failed attempts of coming here and sadly the stall was closed. THey dont serve dinner and are closed on Sundays. Greeting you when you show up at their stall are 3 ladies asking what you want and where you are seated. So there is no visible queue , but the waiting time is at least 15-20 minutes if you are lucky. Soemtimes it can go close to half an hour during peak times.
Here is a plate of 3 dollar Kway Teow. Mixture of thick and thin noodles, tossed in a sweet savory sauce with lots of cockles and sliced cuttlefish cake and of course. LARD!!!:)
Not much egg though, but the dish was done every well. Would like it to be have more of a charred taste to it., but nevertheless, it was savory and delicious. Truly one of the finer Char Kway Teow in this little island.

Katong(Peter) Fried Kway Teow - Tanjong Pagar

Char Kway Teow is perhaps one of the most difficult Hawker food to prepare and to be good at it, it should be fired upon order and not by batches. I have eaten my share of Char Kway Teow around singapore. Had my share of good and bad ones.
Here in Tanjong pagar Food Center, there is a relatively young man who makes a mean Char Kway Teow. And I like the fact that he add shrimps to his Char Kway Teow
THis is the 3.00SGD portion of Char KWay Teow, which has good amount of cockles, chinese sausage and two shrimps.
The aroma was indeed intoxicating, Very good wok hei as the noodles were just the right consistency neither too dry or too wet. It tasted good. Now i dont wonder why during lunch time, the queue here is long.

Meng Kee Fried Kway Teow

Read about this place on Ieatishootipost.sg and a couple other blogs and been looking for it ever since. First few time I tried looking for it, I couldn’t find it, then I noticed..it was inside this eating house.
This stall is being man by a relatively young person. But he cooks his Kway teow very well. Judging from the numerous tables with a plate of Char Kway Teow. This must be good.
This is the 3.00 size. I love it, cooked very well, everything blended so deliciously, and I like it that this place has lots of pieces of scrambled egg. One of the better Char Kway Teow I have eaten. If you guys love Char Kway teow, try this one, you would not regret it.

Hill Street Fried Kway Teow- Chinatown Complex

No guys this isn’t the one in Bedok, this Is in Chinatown complex food center. Thinking that having the same name as the one in bedok, the taste should not be far right? This is the 2.50SGD
Too bad, this fails in comparison to the one in Bedok. The noodles were overcooked and mushy. It was more sweet than savory.
But it was better than the one in Tiong Bahru

Tiong Bahru Fried Kway Teow

Every Hawker center has a famous Char Kway Teow stall to boast of. And here in Tiong Bahu food center, this is the place. I loke this hawker center because, the design is not too crowded. Its Spacious, and windy, being located in a second floor and the design.. the middle is hollowed out so air can circulate easily.
Here is the stall and the old man who has been cooking it for more than 40 years i think. So what do i think of this Char Kway Teow.

This is the 3.00SGD plate. It has lots of ingredients and quite ample for the price.
I would have love it if it was cooked more though to give it more of the smoky "char" taste. Nevertheless this Char Kway teow does deserve being named after the hawker center.
