Tong Fong Fatt Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice - ABC Brickworks

Tong Fong Fatt is perhaps the most successful and famous hainanese Chicken rice franchise. You cna find these stall in a lot of Hawker centers, like Maxwell, Golden Shoe Carpark, etc etcc.. I tried this one in ABC Brickworks at Jalan Bukit Merah.
I was first skeptical about trying a Chicken rice Franchise, i love those mom and pop stores that makes their own chicken on the premises. I know this place gets it from a commisary.
Anyway, i took the chance and ordered me a chicken rice meal for 3.50SGD and it looks like this..

I like it that they seperate everything.
THe chicken was served without bones, flattened and sliced.
then doused with a sauce that has a strong sesame oil base..so if you dont like sesame oil, better tell them not to put sauce anymore. It was tender and juicy.
The rice was also nice..though a bit dry,
i like it that the grains are whole and not smashed or crumbled up
I was proven wrong.. this stall does serve good chicken rice.. not really outstanding but good and the portion size is also great.. you wont leave hungry.

YET CON - Purvis Street

Seeing this restaurant.. old glass door, Signage that also looks old. Well, lets change the word old to "classic". This is said to be one of the oldest Hainanese restaurnt here in Singapore. If you are just walking by, you will see Chickens hanging and the uncle chopping.:)
So i went here, trying to see what a "classic" Hainanese restaurant chicken rice taste like.
THe Chickens used here are not as fat as the ones in Boon Tong Kee, Tian-tian and Wee nam kee.
THe classic trio of sauces with the additional pickled chili:)
The rice was done nicely. very fragrant ans just the way i like my chicken rice to be , a little oily with lots of flavour:)
The Chicken was moist, not much fat which is good. And nicely seasoned.
Another thing that was recommended in the menu is their Roasted Pork, which goes out of stock earlier than the Chicken.
This was just okay lah, it wont be the thing that would make me return to Yet Con. But still worth a try,
They say the Hainanese pork chops here are very good, but regrettably i wasnt able to try it.
For really authentic Hainanese Chicken Rice. Come visit this restaurant. They do steamboat as well. And one more plus is that the place is AIRCONDITIONED!!!

Heng Ji Chicken Rice - Chinatown

A lot of votes went to this place during Dr. Leslie Tay’s chicken rice polls, and I don’t wonder why. This is the most queued chicken rice stall in Chinatown Complex.
Ordered myself a 3 dollar potion and this is what I got. The rice was very fragrant and tasty but I don’t like the rice they used as it crumbled easily
, either its overcooked or the rice quality was poor. The chicken however was good. Moist but not as moist as Tian-Tian.
They also make their own chili sauce, as u can see, they make it a bit darker.

Best Hainanese Chicken Rice???

Who deserves to get my first post about Singapore food. I was thinking of a lot of things.. Chili crab? Char Kway Teow? Hokkien Mee? Fish Head Curry? Or Chicken Rice? Well, the most accesible and the most number of Hawker Stall here in the country is a Hainanese Chicken Rice stall.
So my search for the best one is on.. and here is the winner base on my research. Well, Anthony Bourdain also has a huge contribution to it:)
Located in the Central District of Singapore. In Between Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar. Lies MAxwell food Center. And ehre you can find an unassuming Hainanese chicken Ruce stall named TIAN-TIAN.
What maked their chicken rice special.
The Chicken is cooked very well, tender, juicy meat, easily eaten. The Chicken is not so fat also. Just right
The Rice is still top nothc , because it is just cooked so welll that the grains are still intact and not mushy.
The sauces are also self made..except for the sweet thick soy sauce.
Everything was just harmonious.
I envy people who can eat this everyday.
Warning: expect to queue if you are going on peak hours.. also.. they are closed on Mondays
