Somerset Delicacies - Maxwell Food Center

Maxwell food Center in my honest opinion ranks among the best hawker center in Singapore. There are a lot of Choices, whether you come here for breakfast lunch or dinner. Coveniently located near Chinatown and the Tanjong Pagar area. This is also one of the more famous hawker centers in the island. Going about my routine of checking out the whole center first before deciding what to eat, I chose this place with beautiful pictures.
Especialising in stir fried dishes.. well.. stir fried rice and stir fried noodles to be exact.
Ordered myself a Seafood Horfun Dish.. which came out looking like this..
I like that the noodles were cooked just right and the soy sauce blended the horfun evenly not like in other stalls that it comes in ugly patches.. The amount fo seafood were substantial.. but sadly.. it lacked in seasoning... the size of the dish was good for one hungry man or two semi hungry individuals.

Hainanese Curry Rice - Maxwell Food Center

I never knew I would love this dish. I never really liked curry. I would eat it if it was served, but I would never be the one to look for it or order it in a restaurant. So, I was quite surprised when I have urges to eat this dish here in Singapore.
But there are places who does it well and there are places who does not. So far, places I went to does it well. Here in Maxwell food center. This place is one of the more famous one
I always order the fried pork cutlets and braised cabbage.

And their rendition of the dish is good. The curry was nicely done that you would like to order more and more rice and more and more curry.
The pork cutlets were also fried well and the braised cabbage was delicious as well. For curry rice lovers, add this to your list

Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake - Maxwell food Center

I grew up only knowing of Orh Chian as the way Oyster Cake or Oyster Omellete is. Not knowing there is another way of cooking Oysters. Here it is done when the batter is placed in a large ladle putting oysters and prawn inside then ladleing another layer of batter on top and deep frying it until it become an UFO or an Unidentified Fried Object.
Price at 2.00SGD a single cake is fried till crispy, keeping the inside still moist. There were a few oyster and a prawn insde.
It tasted a bit like a corndog.. but seafood flavor. Hahaha. A bit oily if you ask me, I think good to eat with rice rather than munching on it alone. a bti on the pricey side but still a lovely snack.

Best Hainanese Chicken Rice???

Who deserves to get my first post about Singapore food. I was thinking of a lot of things.. Chili crab? Char Kway Teow? Hokkien Mee? Fish Head Curry? Or Chicken Rice? Well, the most accesible and the most number of Hawker Stall here in the country is a Hainanese Chicken Rice stall.
So my search for the best one is on.. and here is the winner base on my research. Well, Anthony Bourdain also has a huge contribution to it:)
Located in the Central District of Singapore. In Between Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar. Lies MAxwell food Center. And ehre you can find an unassuming Hainanese chicken Ruce stall named TIAN-TIAN.
What maked their chicken rice special.
The Chicken is cooked very well, tender, juicy meat, easily eaten. The Chicken is not so fat also. Just right
The Rice is still top nothc , because it is just cooked so welll that the grains are still intact and not mushy.
The sauces are also self made..except for the sweet thick soy sauce.
Everything was just harmonious.
I envy people who can eat this everyday.
Warning: expect to queue if you are going on peak hours.. also.. they are closed on Mondays
