Legend of the Seas Land Excursions - Patong Beach, Phuket

Day 3, lands you in Phuket at 1pm, and like when we were in Port Kelang in Malaysia, we decided to forego with what the cruise was offering and went to choose our own adventure when we reached the shore.
However, the place was much more chaotic than Port Kelang which was more organized. Here, Divers would surround you and haggle with you till no end.. well, there is an end, when you choose one of them . They will offer trips to nearby destination.
Our Driver brought us to a Elephant and Snake show, which we were ot interested.
He then borught us to a shop that sells local delicacies, like tamarind candies etc..
Then he brought us to a jewelry factory, even when we said we dont want to go.. thet say that the company provides them with vouchers for free gas just to bring customers, even if we dont buy any stuff from them.
Lastly i asked them to bring us to a good thai restaurant.
NOTE TO ALL... never let them drive you to a restaurant.. and never go to this restaurant.
Its expensive and not that good
here is what we had. Tom yum soup and chicken and crab wantons.. both are sub par and forgettable




Not full after that meal, we went to the beach side to find some thai food... we were at awe that there were 3 Mcdonalds in a short stretch of beach road and a lot of places serving pizzas.
We were able to find this restaurant in one of the sides streets.



Ordered a Prawn pancake-

which was nicely fried though my only complant is the breading was a bit thickm but otherwise, the filling was good
Pad Thai-

was so-so, not something i would order here again
Thai ice tea-
was also a bit anemic and bland.
Should i therefore conclude that Patong beach doesnt really offer good thai food... hmmm...

Diandin Leluk - Golden Mile Complex

One of the more famous Thai restaurant here in Singapore. So, I really have high expectations.. Went to the main branch in Golden Mile Complex. The place is quite unexpecting. cleanliness is not really top notch. Service was quick but no so nice.
Thai ice tea-
not really great. Taste okay, not something i would come here for.
Tom Yum Soup-
this was scorchingly spicy. If you love your tom yum spicy, then thism is the place to be. Could have use more shrimps though.
Olive Rice-

one of the better olive rice i have tried. THe flavors of the meat and the rice juyst blended so well togetner. But keep in mind the chopped chilies before mixing everytthing all up, you might regret it after.:) this was the best dish of the night
Fried something-
forgot the name. the picture in the menu was so beautiful that i decided to try it. taste like cuttlefish cake.very artificial taste. Dont try this if you are here.
Golden mile has a lot of other thai restaurants that would be worthy of at least a visit. But i would come back here for the olive rice:)

Sin Lai Lai Snack House - Golden Mile Complex

If you guys go to Malaysia by Bus, you know where Golden Mile Complex is. And in this complex houses one of the best Tom Yam Soup I hve eaten here in Singapore. Don’t mind the cheeky ambience, but this place serves a mean Tom Yum. Serving thai-chinese food, this place has a very good following, I always see this place full.
Full of seafood, and doused with coconut milk, their Tom Yum is creamy and spicy.. those who like the traditional one without the coconut milk can request for it, but I like my tom yum this way, and it is served in a mini hot pot and keeps the tom yum hot so it is very very good.

First Thai - near City Hall

Thai restaurants in Singapore are becoming more and more. Even hawker centers now has Thai themed stalls. But this restaurant in the Cityhall/Bugis Area is one of the first one to open and serve thai food. This is my first taste of thai food in singapore
One of my rant here is that you wont be given a table if all your companions haven’t arrive yet. This I don’t understand. If I am gonna order for 5 persons, why can’t the 2 persons who arrive first get the table already right?
Olive Fried Rice-
I was fascinated by the name, the dish came out as a nice collage of colors, cant really taste the olive in the rice though. Be careful when mixing the rice, it has loads of freshly chopped chili.
Pineapple Fried Rice-
I find this one better than the olive fried rice and it was funny to see chicken floss on top of the fried rice. Never had chicken floss on top of rice I when I ate in Thailand
Tom Yam Soup-
this was nice. Served hot, the soup was full of seafood and mushrooms, and I love the tangy sour taste of it.
Curried Soft Shelled Crab-
one of their new dishes which I also like very much as I love soft shelled crab and they fired it beautifully crisp. The sauce just complimented the crab.
Chicken Pandan- this was just okay.
