Ananda Bhavan - Little India

Craving for good Naan Bread, my hunger lead me to this place in Little India
Established in 1924, this reataurant is said to be the oldest Indian Vegetarian Restaurant in the Island.
Inside you can find indian families, eating simple food, most of them using their bare hands.:)

The garlic naan : everthing is made on the spot and baked in a Tandoor oven when ordered. the smell of the naan was very good.. comes with three kinds of dip that you can try individually or mix and match it. i love the naan, soft, with crispy exteriors.. yummy.. really really good.

Cheese Naan was also good, but i prefer the garlic one.... will surely go back for more garlic naan

Azmi Restaurant - Little India

1944, is the year that this place was opened.. serving Singapore with the best unleavened flat bread you can find in the whole Island. Located at the Corner of Serangoon and Norris St.

This coffee shop specializes in CHAPATI, and i mean specialize. They are the best at what they do. THe churned out Chapatis so quickly that they serve it to you right off the flat grill.
The place looks really run down, as if you are transported to the 40's- 50's era Even the people who serves you seem like they have been working here for years. Everything is done like clock work. Your order of Chapati, your side veggies,
your keema. THey said nothing change.. well, maybe the price. But everything is the same. so as they claim.
The chapati was indeed very very good.,
slightly toasted, soft, easy to handle and eat. I will never look at other chapati the same again and this will surely be my gold standard.

The perfect match to this is the lamb or mutton keema,
which is mince mutton, cooked into a thick stew like consistency, mixed with peas and diced potatoes. And, it was indeed perfect....i wipe the plate clean with my chapati.
To wash it all down was a cup of Teh tarik..
which was sadly a downer, as no foam came out of it....and tasted a bit bland
Anyway, This is truly a die die must try for Chapati lovers... a heritage food location.. i hope it can be passed to the next generation though...

Victory Muslim Restaurant.

Beside the more Famous ZAM –ZAM, I don’t know if there is a history behind this two restaurant, but everything looked the same, the lay out of the restaurant. The way their menu looks like, the price of their food. Came here to try the Mutton Murtarbak.
Of course you will get the usual cucumber with sweet and sour sauce.
The murtarbak came, hot and freshly made. Smelled very good. I like the crispy exterior then inside was the minced muttons with onions. Served with Mutton Curry.
I like it better than Zam zam because the outer layer was crispier yet the inner layers are still chewy and not dried out. Every bite was worth its artery clogging, cholesterol laden calorie. I just love this dish, but not for everyday eating.

Allaudin's Briyani - Tekka Market

I just love Briyani.. fluffy long grain rice served with delicious thick mutton curry.. ahhh… One of the more famous places for Briyani is this stall in TEKKA MARKET. So I chanced upon this place one late afternoon to sample why people are raving about this place.
Got myself a Mutton Briyani- served with a vegetable gravy on the side.
I was quite disappointed with this Briyani as the rice was not fluffy and was quite wet and not hot anymore. Maybe I came too late a time and the rice was about to be finished? The mutton however was tender and also I didn’t like the fact that it wasn’t warm/hot.
I was sad after eating it and now I am wondering if they don’t have the same quality as before or I just caught them on an “off day”
