Katong(Peter) Fried Kway Teow - Tanjong Pagar

Char Kway Teow is perhaps one of the most difficult Hawker food to prepare and to be good at it, it should be fired upon order and not by batches. I have eaten my share of Char Kway Teow around singapore. Had my share of good and bad ones.
Here in Tanjong pagar Food Center, there is a relatively young man who makes a mean Char Kway Teow. And I like the fact that he add shrimps to his Char Kway Teow
THis is the 3.00SGD portion of Char KWay Teow, which has good amount of cockles, chinese sausage and two shrimps.
The aroma was indeed intoxicating, Very good wok hei as the noodles were just the right consistency neither too dry or too wet. It tasted good. Now i dont wonder why during lunch time, the queue here is long.

NO NAME HAINANESE CURRY RICE - Beo Cresent, Tiong Bahru

Inside Beo Cresent in the Tiong Bahru Area is this stall that serves a mean hainanese Curry rice. The stall really dont have a name. as you can see in my pictures.

And this place is always full in the morning and by early lunch time, everything will be sold out. I still cant imagine eating curry for breakfast but well, it’s the norm here so why not.
Ordered myself plate of it and here is what I got. Crispy pork pieces, braised cabbage and rice. The pork was the center of attention here. Fried to golden brown, it tasted so good and not that oily.
The curry was also cooked well, not too spicy and has the right consistency, other curry places tend to be too watery but this one is just right. The braised cabbage also tasted good.
Come over here if you love Hainanese Curry Rice. Defintely worth the find.

Bao Inn - ABC Brickworks

ABC Brickworks have this little stall that makes their own paos on the spot. Everythign is steam in the premises. Got myself a Char siu bao. And a chicken pao- both for 60 cents a piece.
The charsiu bao has mince pork inside,
I would have like it if the pork was not mince so fine, I like bigger dice where you can feel the meat strands when you bite into it.
The chicken pao was good,, juicy and moist inside and the seasoning was just perfect.
Another Stop- GogoBeanZ- yuou can find in a lot of hawker centers

Soy milk with grass jelly- I thought this combination would not really work to my liking, but I was glad to be wrong It was good and very refreshing.

Jologs - Lucky Plaza , Orchard Road

I like going to Lucky plaza because you can find good foreign food like the famous Ayam Penyet Ria and there are tons of Filipino restaurants here as well
According to my Filipino friends, jolog means something like weird or unorthodox, unordinary..
Rice Meals here ranges from 5 dollars and above. But it comes with bottomless drink like Iced Tea and powdered orange drink. So come to think of it, it is worth it, u eat in a airconditioned area with limitless drinks.
Ordered a Sisig rice- which was said to be chopped pork cheeks with liver and garlic and onions. Served with garlic rice and fried egg. So this is where all the pork cheeks are going to?? Hahaha
I like how it taste. I like the play of textures of the fat, the skin ,the meat It was seasoned very well and the garlic fried rice just complimented it.

Mr. Teh Tarik - Changi Road, Geylang Serai

Teh tarik to those who don’t know is “pulled tea”,. It’s a way of cooling tea then the person making it pulls the tea from one pot to another causing it to be cooled at the same time created air bubbles to make a nice airy creamy beverage. I love milk teas that’s why I love teh tarik, but I like it with ice though.
Here is an order of iced Teh Tarik. Creamy, and very nice. Not too sweet. Perfect to partner it with Prata. Here is the banana prata I ordered, I wanted prata tissue but they say it was not available. Too bad. Sadly they don’t make their own prata dough and just order it from a supplier. It was just mediocre.

Fatty Cheong ABC Brickworks Food Center

Still searching for the best Singapore Char Siu, I was lead to this place by the website ieatishootispost.sg
He claimed that this place serves one of the best char siu of Singapore. So here I am queueing at ABC brickworks. Try to avoid the lunch hour whne you want to eat here as the queue can go up to 30 minutes.
Here is my plate of Wanton Mee, with the famous Charsiu slices on top of the noodles.
The Char siu was indeed a lot better than the other outlets I have eaten which srved lean meat that is colored to get the reddish hue. Here the Char siu was baked nicely, It still fails in comparison to the Char Siu I have eaten in Hong Kong but I think this will do for now. The noodles were also nice and springy. The wantons though.. I don’t want to talk about it as I am still disappointed.
Come here for the roasted items.

Victory Muslim Restaurant.

Beside the more Famous ZAM –ZAM, I don’t know if there is a history behind this two restaurant, but everything looked the same, the lay out of the restaurant. The way their menu looks like, the price of their food. Came here to try the Mutton Murtarbak.
Of course you will get the usual cucumber with sweet and sour sauce.
The murtarbak came, hot and freshly made. Smelled very good. I like the crispy exterior then inside was the minced muttons with onions. Served with Mutton Curry.
I like it better than Zam zam because the outer layer was crispier yet the inner layers are still chewy and not dried out. Every bite was worth its artery clogging, cholesterol laden calorie. I just love this dish, but not for everyday eating.
