Zhao Ann Granny Grass Jelly- Golden Mile Food Center

Zhao Ann Granny Grass Jelly

Now this place has been eluding me. Tried to eat at this place a couple of times before but unfortunately it was always close when I get here to Golden Mile.
Anyway, I was so happy when I see them still opened, Quickly ordered a bowl of cold grass jelly.
It was indeed refreshing and delicious. Just right to cap off a hot and tiring day.

Botak Jone - Scattered all over Singapore

Another trip to Botak Jones.. even when I was disappointed with their Burgers.. now, I ordered the Fish and Chips.. which gave you this
The size of the fish was substanstial, the fries were fried upon orderd. I like that they have malt vinegar. But I still prefer my fish and chips cooked with beer batter than this kind. Which was coated in bread crumbs. I find this frying method to crispy and the inside is not as moist as the beer batter method.
How about you guys...???

Casuarina Curry Restaurant - Thomson Area

Too some.. prata is everyday food, a lot even eat it for breakfast paired with coffe or teh tarik, for me.. Prata is definitely an indulgence. I described this piece of pastry as Asian Croissant. Its light in appearance but heavy on the stomach, and I love it very much. This place was recommended by the Makan Guru himself.. KF Seetoh. Here in Casuarina Curry, They still make their own prata dough.
Ordered a PRATA Plaster and a Paper prata. The prata plaster was basically a Kosong.. which is a plain prata with a fried egg stuck..
or plastered to it. The paper prata is a thin and crispy prata. Both were nicely done. Eaten with gravy. The prata has the numerous layers that I like. The paper prata was crispy yet not too thin . Both were delicious. And I was satisfied.
And to wash it down.. a cold glass of Mango Lassi. Goooooood… just right combination with the prata.

Da Paolo Pizza Bar - Holland village

Pizza oo...pizza.. This is one non-singaporean food which i like very much. I love the concept of Da PAolo Pizza Bar. Pizza is nice finger food. Its heavy on the tummy, its has the combination of carbohydrates, protein, veggies and dairy. all i one complete package. Partner it together with you favorite alcoholi cbeverage and you got an interesting evening:)
Situated in Chip Bee Gardens in Holland Village. THe place has a soothing ambience that makes you just wanna realx and take you tie eating the pizza, driking and talking with good friends. What more can you ask for right
But lets concentrate on the food. Was the pizza good?
Ordered a half and half, which lately is how i like ordering a pizza so you can have a taste of two kinds of topping combinations.
The crust was jsut the way i like it , thin yet chewy inside and crispy outside. The one with parma ham could use a touch of fresh greens on top. The mushroom pizza was a great because of its infusion with truffle oil..
Its is not the best i have tasted here in singapore. Yer it is better than your average delivery pizza.

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant - Little India

Biryani Rice is fast becoming one of my favorite indian food. Basmati rice has always been one of my favorite variety of rice, its long, and it absorbs water very well. I like my rice dry and fluffy. And Basmati rice is the best for it.
This restaurant has been very pupular among Singapore food blogs, because of its good Biryani. so i headed to Dunlop street to give it a try.
Ordered myself a Mutton Dum Biryani.
i love the colors of the rice cooked in Saffron and some indian spices. It is very aromatic. I also like the fact that they separate the curry gravy from the meat so that you can put the curry on the rice and control the amount, so that it wont be too messy and too wet.
The meat was cooked very well. Curry was also very strong yet not overwhelming the taste of the meat and the rice.
Overall, i like it. But, is it the best singapore has to offer...Maybe yes, maybe no, not yet sure.
Owner was pretty ncie as well. so thats always a plus point

Katong(Peter) Fried Kway Teow - Tanjong Pagar

Char Kway Teow is perhaps one of the most difficult Hawker food to prepare and to be good at it, it should be fired upon order and not by batches. I have eaten my share of Char Kway Teow around singapore. Had my share of good and bad ones.
Here in Tanjong pagar Food Center, there is a relatively young man who makes a mean Char Kway Teow. And I like the fact that he add shrimps to his Char Kway Teow
THis is the 3.00SGD portion of Char KWay Teow, which has good amount of cockles, chinese sausage and two shrimps.
The aroma was indeed intoxicating, Very good wok hei as the noodles were just the right consistency neither too dry or too wet. It tasted good. Now i dont wonder why during lunch time, the queue here is long.

NO NAME HAINANESE CURRY RICE - Beo Cresent, Tiong Bahru

Inside Beo Cresent in the Tiong Bahru Area is this stall that serves a mean hainanese Curry rice. The stall really dont have a name. as you can see in my pictures.

And this place is always full in the morning and by early lunch time, everything will be sold out. I still cant imagine eating curry for breakfast but well, it’s the norm here so why not.
Ordered myself plate of it and here is what I got. Crispy pork pieces, braised cabbage and rice. The pork was the center of attention here. Fried to golden brown, it tasted so good and not that oily.
The curry was also cooked well, not too spicy and has the right consistency, other curry places tend to be too watery but this one is just right. The braised cabbage also tasted good.
Come over here if you love Hainanese Curry Rice. Defintely worth the find.
